Following the summer holidays,
we are now right back into the swing of things in St Cronan's.
Here are just some of the things we have been up to ...
The Hurling season is back under way with Mr Ó Murchú.
Training is after school on Mondays (weather permitting).
We would love to see as many of the boys from the senior classes as possible taking part.
Leinster's Victory !! - Heineken Cup Visit
On Monday 28th September, St Cronan's had a very special visitor. The Heineken Cup that Leinster won came to the school !
Leinster Kicking Coach Richie Murphy, who has a son in St Cronan's talked to the boys about his job. The whole school gathered in the hall to see the cup.
September Cake Sale
On Wednesday 30th September, the Parents' Activities Committee organised their first fundraising event for the year. There was great support on the day from the boys in all classes and their parents.
Many thanks to the Parents' Committee and all the parents who helped out on the day. The school raised €1520.
During September, members of the Gardaí visited 3rd and 5th Classes and talked to the boys about safety in the neighbourhood. Some of the classes were invited down to the Garda Station in Bray for a tour (See further down the page).
Author Visit to 5th Class
On Tuesday 6th October, author Sarah Webb visited some of the boys from 6th Class as part of The Children's Book Festival.
She talked to the boys about her childhood and what an authors work is like. She also talked to them about the authors that loves to read in her spare time.

On Thursday 15th and Sunday 25th October, over 40 parents and teachers volunteered for a bag-pack in Dunnes Stores Cornelscourt to raise funds for our new computer room. The total amount raised on the first night was €1095, and the second night yielded €898. There is one further bag-pack in the coming weeks, so any volunteers would be greatly appreciated.
Garda Station Visit
On the 14th & 16th October, the boys from 5th class visited Bray Garda Station. They were collected in the Garda Van and Garda Conor Waldron showed them around the station. They visited the control room, the detention cells, the toxicology room and were shown the garda car and motorbike. It was a very informative trip !
During the month of October, St Cronan's sent 30 computers that have become obsolete to a charitable organisation called "Camara". This group will reformat the computers and make them available to schools in Africa.
Some of the boys in 3rd class were involved in an environmental project during the month of October. They cleaned up the area beside the senior yard, and painted the picnic tables that are there in the colours of the school.
This October, St Cronan's was delighted to welcome back reknowned Zambian artist Stary Mwaba. Stary had previously worked with boys from 5th and 6th class in creating a mural called the African Zone in 2004.
This year's project is a mural of a Zambian Tree in the school hall signifying the multicultural nature of our school. He is being assisted by the staff of 80:20 "Educating and Acting for a Better World" and groups of boys from 6th class.

The Parents' Association organised their annual Halloween Party for the boys in 1st and 2nd Class on Friday 23rd October. There were all sorts of activities in the school hall that day. Just take a look at all the fun we had !
