7th September 2009

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Now that the first week of our new school year has been successfully negotiated, despite the rain, it is time to re-engage with our normal routine. If you are interested in helping our Parents' Activities Committee (PAC) you are welcome to join us at our first meeting which will be held on Tuesday 8th September at 8.00pm in the school. You are welcome to join at any time should this short notice be a problem.

Volunteer parents have played an essential part in the life of St. Cronan's for many years, so if you are interested in helping with fun maths or fun reading or in organising play time games, just let us know.

Crokidz is up and running and the following activities will be resuming shortly

  • Fun and Games
  • Art Club
  • Woodcarving for 4th, 5th, and 6th Class
  • Indoor Soccer
  • Guitar lessons for beginners will take place on Thursday or Friday with limited places available.
  • Swimming lessons for 1st classes will resume on Thursday 17th at Shoreline. Classes are held after school and parents are responsible for bringing their sons to the pool.

We are aware that a small number of our pupils have allergies or specific medical conditions. It is clearly essential that we have such details on file in the event of an emergency. Please contact the school secretary should more details need to be provided. In the case of an emergency we are obliged to contact both parents. It is essential that we have details of both parents.

We have been thinking for some time about having a passport-size photo attached to each pupil's data file. We can arrange this within the school but parental permission will be required, similar to having pupils' photos in local papers, media or on our school website.

Finally, might I advise new parents that enrolment for Presentation College takes place this week between 10.00am and 11.00am. It will be necessary to bring along your child's birth certificate and his PPS number. Please note that there is no automatic link between our school and any particular post primary institution.

You might check out our school website for important notices and updates on events. Encourage your son to log on to our HUB for interesting secure sites relevant to their class work. ( Click Here)
