You may have noticed that the fundraising efforts for the past few months have been very quiet. We only have two more events in the pipeline before the end of the school year. We appreciate your continued support despite the change in the economic climate.
Family Fun Quiz
We have organized the Family Fun Quiz (which is held in the School Hall) for the 12th June 2009. This is a great evening and it gives the kids a chance to show off there knowledge! Be sure to book your table when the notes go home in the school bags as it fills up very quickly.
We are considering a Cake Sale for some time in June – We will need donations of plenty of goodies from home. When we have a date organized for this we will let you know and you can get baking (or the kids can)!
The Golf inter-schools competition will be held on the 29th May. It will be held in Delgany Golf Club. 36 Golfers will take part in the event. Six schools will be involved including 4 pupils from each school and they will be competing for the Castle Cup. Trials have been taking place in the school over the last few weeks to pick our best 4! Good luck to the selected competitors – Castle cup one day – Irish Open the next.
We mentioned at the beginning of the year that we were going to install a defibrulator. Well, the training has been completed, hopefully we will never need to use it but in the unfortunate event that it is needed we now have it available to us.
With regard to the extension – you may have noticed that there are two classes running in the hall at the moment. This is a very short-term arrangement. The pupils needed to be moved out of the prefabs as they need to be removed from site. All going to plan, the two classes in question will be installed in their new classrooms in the extension by the first week in June. We have been very fortunate with the building firm constructing the extension. Other than the inconvenience of not having the school yard they have not disrupted any of the classes during the day. Come September, it will all be a distant memory and Mr Dodd can take the earplugs out in the mornings again !!
The National Parents Council (NPC) in conjunction with Crisis Pregnancy Agency are purposing to run courses for Parents in Relationship and Sexuality Courses in your school. If anyone would be interested in attending such a course please contact the school and we can pass you on the details, costs etc.
Our next meeting will be held on the 2nd June – all are welcome. Please if you have any suggestions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact any member of the committee.
