Pioneer Schools Quiz

Congratulations to our quiz teams who represented the schools at the Bray Deanery Pioneer Quiz, which took place in Greystones on March 7th 2010.

Two teams of four took part and one of St. Cronan's teams will now go on to the Leinster Finals in Monasterevin during the Easter Holidays. That team was made up of Christopher B, Seán W, Owen D and David M.

Well done also to the other team which included Callum B, Andrew P, Liam F and Ryan M.

A special thanks to Marcus N - our super sub on the day and to Jack S and Robbie J, who didn't make it on the day despite earning a place on our quiz squad.

Some of our parents from The Philippines organised a shop window display in Kelly's Photocraft on the Quinsborough Road. They were aided by the children in Mr. Barry's 4th class. Some of our Filipino Community also marched in the St. Patrick's Day Parade with the Bray Lions Club, who organised the Windows On The World display. Many thanks to all those who took part.

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2010

Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge á chéiliúradh againn sa scoil idir an 15ú agus an 19ú Marta. Bhí Céilí againn sa halla ar an Luain agus glacamar páirt i Tráth na gCeist ar an Mháirt.

Ar an gCéadaoin, ghlac chuid mhaith do na daltaí páirt sa Pharáid Mhóir i mBré. Bhí roinnt d'ár daltaí ag máirseáil le Club na Leoin i mBré ar son na scoile. Ar an Déardaoin bhí ceoilchoirm againn sa halla. Chanamar amhráin agus bhí ceol agus damhsa againn. Ar an Aoine, chaitheamar éadaí ghlas don Lá Ghlás.

We celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge in the school between the 15th and the 19th March. We had Céilí dancing in the hall on Monday and took part in a Table Quiz in Irish on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, many of our pupils took part in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Bray. Some of our pupils were representing St. Cronan's marching with Bray Lions Club. On Thursday, we had a concert in the hall. We sang songs in Irish, and we had Irish music and dance. On Friday, we wore green clothes for our Day of Green.

SightSavers - Junior Painter of the Year

Over 2400 children around Ireland entered their paintings into the SightSavers Junior Painter of the Year awards 2009. There were twelve regional winners and three were chosen for commendation. I was one of the three chosen because of my use of colour, creativity and imagination shown in my painting.

The topic of the competition was "The Sight I Most Like To See". I painted a picture as if I was looking through willow trees and seeing a great, loud water fall. The other winners' paintings were super like The Northern Lights and The Giants Causeway and Under the Sea.

We were all invited to a special award ceremony in Airfield. A few photographers came and took some pictures and then we were presented with the awards.

They brought the fire engine with them and show the boys around the different pieces of equipment that they use in the course of their work. They also spoke to the boys about general fire safety and the importance of smoke alarms.

Many thanks to all the firemen who visited us.
